Senior Taxi Discounts
In order to provide senior citizens and disabled residents living within the corporate limits of the City of Prospect Heights with affordable convenient transportation, the City sponsors a discount taxicab program.

Eligibility
To obtain a discount card, you must be a Prospect Heights resident, at least 62 years of age, or meet the disabled qualifications. Proper identification indicating home address and date of birth are required before a card can be issued.

Cards are issued at the Prospect Heights City Hall, 8 N. Elmhurst Road, during normal business hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Discount Rates
The program is based on the meter fare for all riders. Residents may travel to any location outside the boundaries of Prospect Heights as well as within town. The City will pay fifty percent (50%) of the meter fare, up to $3.00. The participant will pay the remainder. Trips to O'Hare Airport are not included because the taxi companies do not use the meter for these trips. A flat rate is charged. This rate is already discounted.

Charges for Additional Passengers
When two or more card holders ride together from the same location to the same destination, the fare rate is for the first person and an extra ten cents for each additional passenger.

Companies Offering Discounts
AAA 303 Cab (847) 364-0303
American Taxi (847) 253-4411
Community Cab (847) 296-1131

Procedures
You need not identify yourself as a senior when you call for a cab. When you use the cab, the driver will need the number on your identification card and he will have you sign a small form or record sheet. This will indicate your pickup point and destination as well as the cost of the ride.

Helpful Hints
You will receive better service if you try to schedule your trips between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM. During early morning and later afternoon rush hours, the cabs are very busy and often the wait may be long. If you have an important appointment, it is good idea to call well ahead of time and be ready in case the driver is early.

Complaints or Compliments
If you have a complaint or compliment about the service, please provide the following regarding the trip; the taxicab number, date and time of day, pickup and destination point. This information can be given to a staff person at City Hall.
