Health Department
The Health Department inspects all food-handling businesses, portable carts and all food venders at Summerfest. Also, during the summer months, all public and multi-family complex pools are inspected.

The Health Department may be reached by calling City Hall at (847) 398-6070 ext 222 to report a suspected health violation.

West Nile Virus
The City of Prospect Heights Health Department has continually monitored the West Nile Virus with frequent communiqués from the Illinois Health Department, CDC, etc. We will monitor (dead) birds (crows, blue jays, etc.) until we confirm 5 positives cases. After 5 positive cases, birds are to be disposed of by wrapping the bird in a plastic bag, then wrapping and sealing in a second bag, then disposing the package in the garbage.

Private Wells
It is important to test your well on a yearly basis. Containers with instructions for collecting your water samples are available at City Hall. Samples are tested for coliform bacteria at an outside company. If coliform are present, you can chlorinate your own well with directions from your health department. There is a small fee for this testing.

Flu Shots
Each year the Health Department, in conjunction with Wheeling Township provide flu shots for the seniors of Prospect Heights. Call City Hall for times and dates of the next flu shot program.
